Starting settings for a monochrome bitmap

Postby nJed » Wed Apr 26, 2017 12:28 pm

Good Day:

I have typically engraved vector paths with my engraver (an 'emblaser') but have a need to engrave some bitmap images. The original artwork is a monochrome bitmap @ 300dpi - I was hoping to get some suggestions regarding initial settings to try. I'm curious, since the image is B&W, whether Analog/PWM is the proper engraving profile. Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi Ed,

You can use the Analog/PWM engraving profile with your monochrome images, but if you only want it to engrave B&W, it must be only a 1bit image. To ensure It's only 1bit, you may need to Dither it in the PEP5 image editor first.

You would then use a Max 3rd Axis Depth of 255 (full on) and a Min of 0 (no burn).

You can also use the Skip White and Feed Rate Change to speed up your B&W laser engravings.

Jeff
