3 watt Aiming

Postby DistortedDesigns » Fri Sep 18, 2015 12:05 pm

I am having an issue trying to get my new DTR 3w NDB7875 aimed. I am running it at 2.3A on a flexmod, analog, 3 element, arduino uno.
I know I am still trying to get the speed down as well.

How exactly do you guys aim your lasers? What are you using, jewlers loop, black paper? Need the actual process you go through. Also I don't have a Motorized Z axis, mine is more like the emblazer so I have been using a laser cut piece of plexi to set the height of the laser.

The best way we found with that LD and 3EG lens is, set your focal height at 3" (if you can), to a black anodized piece of aluminum. It will not reflect on black. The 3" is from the aluminum to the face of the LD module. Throttle up your LD between 5-10% and just rotate the lens until the focal point is the smallest. You can see the small focal point better with the amber colored laser safety glasses instead of the red ones.
