What commands are you using for Mach3 and the PicConvert board to control the laser?

A axis and output1 for signal. Also set smoothstepper to use output 1 for m11 m10.

You may just need to increase your X, Y & A axis accels.

Will give that a try next time I'm at the shop. I got the picconvert working pretty good. Just need to get use to the initial setup of gray scale.

Rich,
I'm a little confused. Are you trying to use M10/M11 while using a PicConvert board to do gray scale engraving?

John,

I took it as he is using the M10/M11 commands with the vectric software for B&W laser engraving and the A axis with the PicConvert board using PEP6 for lasering grayscale.

Rich,

are you aware that you can raster B&W images using PEP6 and the PicConvert board with the A axis commands too? M10/M11 commands are slower in Mach3 and with a 8W laser you need to be moving as fast as possible. With B&W logos and/or text, you will need to Dither your image in the PEP6 Editor first.

I was trying to remember back when I used M10/M11 that I also experienced "dots" at line beginnings, but it was so long ago that I am not really sure now. ;)

The M10/M11 commands will trigger a laser much faster than any axis can start to move, so over-burning at the start of lines is likely to result in "dots" when using them. I think it is better to just use the PicConvert board as you say.
