Issue with Probing

Postby Daz2264 » Sun Jun 20, 2021 11:18 pm

Just new to Pic Sender. Came over from UGS.
I've been using Pic Sender for a few days now with no issues. Loving it.

But today it is doing something strange.

If there is no file loaded, i can have it probe and set Z axis to 0
if i have a file loaded and try to probe. it will go down to the plate but istead of rising as above, it tries to kepp going?

ive checked the setings
I've rebooted the program and laptop.
No change

Does anyone know know why?
How can i stop this?

I have G91 z=15mm but when i hit Z+ or Z- it goes all the way till it hits the limit or i hit the red button.

I should say i'm using XCarve and programing in VCarve Pro

UPDATE: I found that the issues only occur after using the Quick Codes i've set up.

Please post the Quick Codes that you are using to cause this issue to occur. From your description it sounds like GRBL is maybe being changed from G91 to G90 mode.
John Champlain

EDIT: Sorry, I forgot that if trying to jog in g90 mode, PicSender should popup a warning message. So perhaps something else in your Quick Codes? I am not able to duplicate issue here using PicSender version 3.6.9 and a simple Quick Code.

G01 Z25F3600

It is the G90. PicSender does not know it was used. I will try to fix this so it will not cause issue as soon a I can.

Thanks John

All i wanted to do was move the tool X10 & Y10 Z20 after positioning it so that I can probe away from the zero point

OK, then the 'G90' in your code will cause a move to the absolute (machine) location. It will not do as you want. You need to use 'G91' (relative) positioning, which moves x distance away from current position.

Did the G91 work OK in your QuickCode? If not I need to do some tests when I return home.

I took the G91 out and it ran fine.
