Trouble with A and S

Postby Honk » Tue Jul 12, 2016 1:54 pm

I am having a little trouble with A and S. I am trying to get PL3D to work with GRBL. The PicEngrave Pro 5 adds an extra line in the G code when I use S in the G code options section, Same profile except A or S. If I remove the line with the arrow PL3D will work fine. T think if there was another line added to the spindle code it might work too. PL3D Version is 1.0.2. What am I doing wrong?
Thank you Jerry

Hi Jerry,

Why are you trying to combine A commands with S commands? Both are for laser. I'm not sure what you have set different, but when I used the S as the third axis letter in the Analog/PWM engraving profile, it did not add the extra line. Here is code I just generated with Z for the relief depth & S for the Laser. They combined without error.

Z axis depth commands:

G20
F100
G01 Z.0000
F100
G01 X0 Y0 Z0.0000
M03
X0 Y0 Z-0.1005
X0.007 Y0 Z-0.0956
X0 Y0.007 Z-0.1005
X0 Y0.014 Z-0.1034
X0.007 Y0.007 Z-0.0971
X0.014 Y0 Z-0.0985

S laser commands with Feed Rate Change:

G20
F100
G01 S.0000
F100
G01 X0 Y0 S0.0000 F100
M03
X0 Y0 S206.9608 F79.7
X0.007 Y0 S197.3529 F80.7
X0 Y0.007 S206.9608 F79.7
X0 Y0.014 S212.7255 F79.1
X0.007 Y0.007 S200.2353 F80.4
X0.014 Y0 S203.1176 F80.1
X0.021 Y0 S206.0000 F79.8

Combined Z & S commands.

G20
F100
G01 Z.0000
G01 Z.0000 S.0000
F100
G01 X0 Y0 Z0.0000 S0.0000 F100
M03
X0.007 Y0 Z-0.0956 S197.3529 F80.7
X0 Y0.007 Z-0.1005 S206.9608 F79.7
X0 Y0.014 Z-0.1034 S212.7255 F79.1
X0.007 Y0.007 Z-0.0971 S200.2353 F80.4
X0.014 Y0 Z-0.0985 S203.1176 F80.1

Hi Jeff
I made a mistake explaining that, I am sorry. I will attempt to do a better job. I am combining A & Z on my old laser, and I am combining S & Z on the new laser as GRBL doesn't see A. I was attempting to show that PEP5 writes the file with an extra line of code when I use the S command instead of A. (as seen above) The PL3D will not work if that line of code isn't removed. The S and A commands is the only change I made in the profile on PEP5 and I can't figure out why? Would it help show something if I send a picture of that PEP5 profile?
Thanks Jerry

Hi Jerry,

Please post your PEP5 settings so I can see what might be going on.

Thanks.

Jeff here are those files. If something I'm doing doesn't jump right out at you, I can use it the way I'm doing now. I also ran those again 2 more times and This time A didn't work right. It also had that line this time. I only mentioned that about A because that is where I saw the difference in the two codes. Also it worked good on the other laser. I have no idea what I am doing when I remove that line but it does work I have a 3D on the Fire Dragon now a it's doing good.
Thanks Jerry

Jeff
I just wrote those files again (twice) with S and it did it without that line. (I didn't change anything but the A to S) it also worked in PL3D with out a glitch. Maybe it's Windows 10 again? I sure don't know!
Thanks for the help; Jerry

Jerry,
I'm glad it worked itself out, whatever it was.
